Cumberland’s Derrick Gideo is HON Conference Golf Champion

Gideo has played consistent golf all spring, gaining Medalist honors in a large number of matches. His play has reached another level as the Beavers prepared for the D3 Regional in Luck on Tuesday, May 27.
Chetek-Weyerhaueser repeated their 2024 HON Team Championship with a score of 321. Hayward shot a 327, Ladysmith a 329, while the Beavers finished 4th overall with a team score of 336, 15 strokes ahead of 5th place Northwestern.
The Beavers had three other players turn in 89s in Hayward. Senior Brody Chartraw, Senior Max Hoff, and Junior Shae Longtine each tied for 20th, 21st and 22nd place in the Tournament.
“I’m very proud of the boys and the improvement they’ve made all spring. We’re hoping to keep our strong play going into WIAA Tournaments,” said Coach Mike Gideo. For teams and individuals that qualify in Tuesday’s Regional, the Sectional will take place at Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake on Tuesday, June 3, at 9:00 am.
