Cross Country Team Holds its Invitational; In Amery on Tuesday

The Cumberland Cross Country Team welcomed 13 other teams to its 2025 Invitational held at the Timberland Hills CASTA Ski Trail Course on Tuesday, September 30. Cameron took home the Boy’s Title and Bloomer the Girl’s Championship, while the Beavers finished seventh and 10th respectively. 

Cumberland’s Tommy Dettinger continued his excellent fall with a second-place finish in the boy’s competition, as he ran the challenging 5,000m course in 17:07, only four seconds behind first place Seth Rogge of Bloomer. Brother Ben Dettinger added a strong 16th place finish with a time of 18:59, while Jayden Eagleman came in 31st in the field of 141 with a time of 20:07.

The girl’s race was dominated by Ciara Hartman, who ran an 18:43 to take first by 27 seconds.

Cumberland’s contingent was led by Jovina Skinner, who finished the race in 23:55, good for 23rd. Violet Small ran 25:28, good for 39th place, while Levke Wacker ran a 27:17 to finish 56th out of 108 runners.

The Cumberland Middle School Cross Country Team, meanwhile, held their own season-ending Invite on Monday, September 29. The Cumberland Boy’s Team had a strong day, finishing sixth in a 15-team field, while the Cumberland Girl’s Team also did well with an eighth-place finish.

Cumberland’s Jack Odden ran a strong race, finishing with a time of 12:40 to take fourth out of 179 runners. Finn Corry of Birchwood was the winner with a run of 12:09.

The Beavers Leo Dettinger added a 13th place finish with a run of 13:29, while Jackson DePatto was 52nd in 16:01.

The Middle School Girl’s race was won by Trinity Ricci of Osceola in 13:55. The best Cumberland finish came from Riley Muench, who was 30th with a run of 16:24. Elliot Meyer added a 35th place finish in 16:58, just edging out teammate Addalyn Lehmann who was 36th with an identical time.

The High School’s race in Amery next Tuesday will be its last before the HON Conference Tournament, also at Timberland Hills, on Tuesday, October 14, beginning at 4:30 pm.
