Beavers Football Team Drops Game in Ladysmith: Record 0 and 2

The Cumberland Beavers saw their record fall to 0 and 2 on the year following a 14-7 loss to the Ladysmith Lumberjacks in a game played last Friday in Ladysmith. The Beavers are back at home this Friday with a contest against the Bloomer Blackhawks beginning at 7:00 pm.

“We battled all night long, but six turnovers made it difficult to win. We didn’t quit, but need to make more plays and have to get better on both sides of the ball,” said Coach Jordan Potvin.

Cumberland moved the ball at times rolling up 266 yards of offense on the night. Quarterback Troy Majewski completed six of 12 passes for 101 yards, while rushing for 23 yards on 14 carries. Logan Peterson added 61 yards rushing and Brody Gilbertson 42 more, as the Beavers had 165 yards on the ground in 44 attempts. Max Odden, meanwhile, caught four balls for 39 yards and Alex LaBlanc two more for 62 yards.

Defensively, Logan Peterson’s seven tackles led the Beavers, while Max Odden added six more and Majewski and Gilbertson five each. Majewski also had a Cumberland interception.

Unfortunately, a winnable game was marred by the turnovers, leaving the Beavers a touchdown short on the scoreboard.

Bloomer will also be looking after their first win of the season after having been outscored 90 to 6 in their first two losses.
