Volleyball Team Loses to Amery in WIAA Regional Opener
The Cumberland Volleyball Team saw their season come to an end on October 21 when the #9-seeded Beavers fell to the #8-seeded Amery Warriors in a WIAA Regional opener. The match-up went three sets as Cumberland showed great resolve, but came away without a victory. The toughest loss was a hard-fought 27-25 decision in game two of the night.
Several girls put up good numbers for Coach Erin Miller, including Sara Roff, who had 25 digs on the night. Natalie Anderson added nine assists, Kaylee Jackson 12 digs and eight assists, Raegan Beecroft seven kills, and Alexis Peterson six kills, a block, and two service aces.
Amery ended their Tournament run two nights later with a loss to #1-seeded Grantsburg, who is ranked 10th in the D4 State Polls. They would go on to take the Regional Championship and open up Sectional play against Bloomer this Thursday night.
