Alumni College Athletes Begin Their Fall Seasons
Several Cumberland Graduates are well into their fall college seasons as the middle of September nears.
Jack Martens is entering his final year of football at D1 South Dakota, where the Coyotes are preparing for a home contest against Northern Colorado this Saturday. Martens was named a Team Captain this fall and caught his first touchdown pass of the season last week in a 20-13 loss to Lamar College out of Texas. Martens is a three-year starter at wide receiver and is considered the team’s best blocking offensive end.
DeShaun Ames, meanwhile, is anxious to return to his wide receiver position for the University of Minnesota-Duluth after missing the season’s first two games with injury.
Ames was a NSIC First Team All-Conference pick last fall and was named as a preseason choice to the D2 Elite-100 watch list for the 2025 season.
Finally, 2024 graduate Carly McCreary is on the UW-Sevens Point Cross Country Team where she participated in four meets as a freshman. She finished with a time of 26:53 in the 6000m at the Pointers first meet in Green Bay last weekend.
