🚶➡️🏞️ Our #CSDGoBeavers 8th graders glided into adventure at the Chippewa Moraine!
They took a hike, learned about how glaciers form the land around them, played some ice-breaking voyager games, and even slithered out of their comfort zones by holding a snake! 🐍 What a cool way to learn about the forces that shaped our world! 🌍
The Natural Resource Management class received a clean perspective on how Cumberland tackles 💧 wastewater treatment!
📣 THANK YOU to Katie for guiding our #CSDGoBeavers students through the wastewater journey—from filtration, to being broken down by hardworking microorganisms, and finally returning to the Hay River. 🌊

Cumberland Middle School recently held its 2024 National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Students can qualify for this honor as an 8th-grade student by maintaining a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and committing to complete 10 hours of community service each year.

🇺🇸 Mrs. DePatto’s dad, a veteran of the Navy, spent the morning with our #CSDGoBeavers kindergarteners!
They learned about what a veteran is, why we honor them and are thankful for them, and also about his time on a submarine! They couldn’t believe he would be underwater for up to three months at a time and that a submarine could even emerge in the North Pole!

Lettuce tell you about these budding gardeners! 🌱
Earlier this month, our #CSDGoBeavers kindergartners teamed up with their high school agriculture buddies to plant lettuce seedlings in a Flex Farm, generously provided by the Cumberland Educational Foundation. It was harvest day, and they were thrilled to deliver their homegrown lettuce to the school kitchen—just in time for some fresh additions to hot lunches! 🥗🥬
High School Principal and Marine Veteran, Mr. Hopkins, visited our #CSDGoBeavers fifth graders to share about Veterans Day!
It was a meaningful experience as students listened to his stories from his time in service. 🇺🇸
💙💛 Three Cumberland FFA members including Avery Johnson, Miya Lehman, and Braelynn Albrecht, joined nearly 73,000 others at the National FFA Convention last week in Indianapolis, Indiana!
They attended the expo, as well as convention sessions, a leadership training, and toured farms and a crop research center.

This year’s prompt, “My Voice in America’s Democracy,” has sparked thoughtful responses. Students have been collaborating by reviewing and providing feedback to their peers, sharpening their writing skills along the way. ✍️🇺🇸

🎨🦁 CES Artists Are "Roaring" with Creativity! 🐯🎨
Both 2nd grade and Kindergarten have been hard at work crafting their ferocious tigers and lions! 2nd graders used fluorescent paint to bring their tigers to life, while Kindergarten’s colorful lions really ROAR with personality! 🖌️✨
