Girl’s Golf Season Ends at Regionals
The Cumberland Girl’s Golf season came to an end last Wednesday at the D2 WIAA Regionals, played at the Hayward Golf Course. Hayward to home the team title with a score of 354 as Spooner and the Luck Co-op also advanced to Sectional play. Cumberland finished fifth in the seven-team field with a team score of 436.
Individually, Hayward’s Macey Reier took Medalist honors with a scoe of 80, as the Hurricanes took home the first three places while rolling to their impressive team victory. Cumberland Senior Lexi Peterson led the Red and White with a solid round of 102 to finish tied for 12th place.
“Lexi missed going on to Sectionals by only three strokes. The girl’s improved throughout the season, finishing 5th in the Conference and playing some good golf here. We lose two super seniors in Lexi and Sadie Horton, but have several girls back and have a chance to field a competitive team again next fall,” added Coach Tom Hullander.
Horton and Brook Colburn each added 109s in Hayward. Horton, meanwhile, finished 12th at the HON Tournament in Ladysmith with a very nice round of 94. Kelsey Reidy added a 99 and Colburn a 103 as Cumberland enjoyed one of their best days of the fall. Hayward won the Tournament to finish 2023 as the HON Conference Champions.
