UW-La Crosse Captures Fifth NCAA III Outdoor Title
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's Track & Field team captured its fifth National NCAA Division III Championship last in La Crosse last weekend. UW-L also won the national title in 1983, 1984, 2015 and 2023.
Among those playing a major role in the Championship was Cumberland graduate Andie Otto, who joined three of her teammates to win the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:40.69, breaking the old School record in winning their title.
Otto also earned individual NCAA Division III All-America honors, by placing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.43.Congratulations Andie!
David Olson and Vaughn Johnson Playing Baseball at UW-River Falls
Two former Cumberland Baseball players are part of the UW-River Falls Team this spring. David Olson is getting time as a DH, while Vaughn Johnson picked up the pitching win in the Falcons second game of the season with two innings of relief.
The Falcons are 2 and 0 on the young season with a 6-2 win over Loras College out of Iowa and a 5-4 victory over Clarkson College from New York. Johnson picked up the pitching win over Clarkson with two innings of one-run ball, striking out four.
