Volleyball Team Plays Well at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Tournament
The Cumberland Varsity Volleyball Team traveled to Chetek last Saturday for their Invitational Tournament. After dropping all three sets to the Bulldogs in the day’s opener, Cumberland rallied to defeat New Auburn, Bruce, Cornell, and Siren in consecutive games to finish 4 and 1 on the day. “We really played well and everyone contributed,” said Head Coach Erin Miller.
Team members having good days included Natalie Anderson with 17 serving aces, 60 assists, and 19 digs. Kennedy Campbell, meanwhile, had 22 kills, 21 digs, and seven aces, while Hailey Paulson had 34 kills and Lily Murphy 32 digs.
Earlier in the week, the Beavers dropped contest to both Somerset and Boyceville, while both JV1 and JV2 won their games. Hailey Paulson had 34 kills and 31 digs in the two losses, while Natalie Anderson had 60 kills and Lily Murphy 32 digs.
This Thursday, September 17, Cumberland is home against Spooner, while Saturday, the Varsity and JV1 travel to Unity for the Eagles Invite beginning at 9:00 am.
